THE ARTS
Since the birth of Top Location, the arts had played a pivotal role in shaping this communities. From the Community Hall in Top Location, to the many Jazz Bands that made all weddings and other significant events historical, the arts continued to shape Sharpeville since its birth to-date.
Performing Arts
Since the merger of couple of musicians from several Top Location based bands to form the Sharpetown Swingsters in 1953, Sharpeville has witnessed the birth of many bands that included the following: The Hurricane; The Black Five, The Iron Doors, Human, Ketane, Mac Jays and others. Many individual artists that made their names throughout the land and overseas, include Mafiki Philip Marokoane, Japie Macheli, Donald Mbowane, Melody Modisakeng, Nana Motijoane, Molefi Motijoane, Oupa Poho, Sophie Thapedi, Steven Lepere, Piet Mosehle, Jake Lehobo, Stona, Mathematics, Gina Kane and K Method...
This was not only confined to music. Dancers and dance groups like Lucky Moeketsi [the 1980's Disco King], Bra Matebesi Ramakau & Bra Makopo Phafane [Ballroom and Latin American Dancers] The Mighty Disco Stars, Junior Pantsulas as well as Future Kids Breakers weaved an era that started from the 1960's way into the 1980's in creating a dance capital of this region. Sharpeville Community Hall remained a home to all these dance troupes throughout the years.
The Birth of Busang School of the Arts by Gamakhulu Diniso, created a new generation of performers from drama to music that included the likes of Thabiso Selepe, Mookgo Sprinkaan, Poplanki Sprinkaan, Meiki More, Teboho More, Madikatana Moshebi, Aupa Maja, Mfanelo Mtambo and many others. Since then to today's young and old performers, Sharpeville never ceased to produce the best, despite challenges brought forth by its locality.
Gamakhulu Diniso remains the veteran performer of all times with his current company that includes his two sons, Iza-Nkululeko and Nyaniso Diniso.
Poets like Tsoana Nhlapo as well as Modisana Mabale, continue to drive the art and still perform to this day.

SHARPEVILLE boast the best photographers that include Malcolm Phafane and Lemogang Fifi. The greatest Fine artists like Gamakhulu Diniso, Spenya Shadrack Hlalele, Bongi Matsose and Sphiwe Khubeka. Creative Companies like Deep Rooted, Artitude as well as galleries like Artrest and Mollo's Robert Sobukwe Art Gallery. Film makers like Thabang Modibedi and many others create a large pool of creative minds within Sharpeville that spans many years and generations.
